This recipe isn’t just a festive, fun treat—it’s an immersive experience where every part is infused with cannabis for maximum enjoyment. From the gingerbread to the royal icing, even the candy decor can pack a punch. Here’s how to make it, step by step, and infuse every ingredient like a pro.

Ingredients for Gingerbread:

3 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 tbsp ground ginger

1 tbsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp ground cloves

1 tsp ground nutmeg

1 tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

¾ cup (1 ½ sticks) cannabis-infused butter

We’ll show you how to make it later.

¾ cup brown sugar

1 large egg

½ cup molasses

1 tsp vanilla extract

We’ll infuse the vanilla too!

Infusing the Ingredients:

1. Cannabis-Infused Butter (or Cannabutter)

This is the heart of your gingerbread dough and will provide most of the THC or CBD content.

To make Cannabutter, you’ll need:

• 1 cup unsalted butter

• 7-14 grams cannabis flower (depending on desired potency)

Instructions:

1. Decarboxylate the cannabis:

This is the essential first step to activate THC or CBD. Preheat the oven to 240°F (115°C). Break apart your cannabis buds into small pieces and spread them evenly on a baking sheet. Bake for 30-45 minutes, stirring halfway through. Your cannabis should look golden brown.

2. Infuse the butter:

• In a saucepan, melt the butter on low heat and add the decarboxylated cannabis.

• Let it simmer for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally. Be careful not to let it boil—keeping it low is crucial for preserving cannabinoids.

• Strain through cheesecloth to remove the plant matter, leaving you with pure cannabutter.

2. Cannabis-Infused Vanilla Extract

You can take your vanilla extract up a notch by infusing it with cannabis. This is a long-term process but can be done ahead of time.

Ingredients:

• 1 cup vodka (or any high-proof alcohol)

• 1-2 grams decarboxylated cannabis

• 1 vanilla bean, split

Instructions:

1. After decarboxylating the cannabis (as described above), combine the cannabis, vodka, and split vanilla bean in a glass jar.

2. Seal tightly and shake well.

3. Let it sit in a cool, dark place for at least two weeks, shaking every few days.

4. Strain out the cannabis before using.

If you don’t have time to infuse vanilla extract yourself, you can use cannabis tincture (which is alcohol-based) and mix it directly into your recipe, substituting for the regular vanilla extract.

Instructions for Making the Gingerbread:

1. Prepare the Gingerbread Dough:

• In a large bowl, sift together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt.

• In another bowl, beat the cannabutter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg, molasses, and cannabis-infused vanilla extract, and mix until fully incorporated.

• Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix to form a dough.

• Divide the dough in half, shape into discs, and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill in the fridge for at least 1 hour (this helps the dough firm up).

2. Shape and Bake the Gingerbread:

• Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

• Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thick. Use stencils or templates to cut out the pieces of your gingerbread house (walls, roof, etc.).

• Transfer the shapes to a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes until firm. Allow the gingerbread to cool completely before assembling.

Infusing the Royal Icing:

Ingredients:

• 4 cups powdered sugar

• 3 egg whites

• 1 tsp cannabis tincture (adjust based on desired potency)

Instructions:

1. Beat the egg whites until frothy.

2. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing well to avoid lumps.

3. Add the cannabis tincture (or infused vanilla extract for less potency), and continue beating until smooth and thick. The icing should be able to hold the gingerbread pieces together.

4. Optional: Add food coloring to make it festive.

Cannabis-Infused Candy Decorations

Here’s where you can go all out. Use store-bought or homemade cannabis gummies or other edibles for decorating your gingerbread house. You can even make your own cannabis-infused candy for a custom touch!

Cannabis-Infused Gummies:

Ingredients:

• ½ cup fruit juice of choice

• 1 tbsp lemon juice

• 2 tbsp honey or agave

• 1 tbsp gelatin (or agar-agar for vegan)

• 1-2 ml cannabis tincture

Instructions:

1. Heat the fruit juice, lemon juice, and honey/agave in a saucepan over low heat.

2. Slowly whisk in the gelatin or agar-agar, stirring constantly until fully dissolved.

3. Remove from heat and add the cannabis tincture, stirring to distribute evenly.

4. Pour the mixture into silicone molds and refrigerate until set (about 30 minutes).

Once set, you can use the gummies to decorate the roof or windows of your gingerbread house!

Assembling the Cannabis-Infused Gingerbread House:

1. Use the cannabis-infused royal icing as glue to assemble your house. Start with the walls, holding each piece together for a few minutes until the icing firms up. Once the walls are stable, attach the roof.

2. Let the house sit for at least 30 minutes to ensure it’s solid.

3. Now, it’s time to decorate! Use infused gummies, cannabis chocolates, and more to add your festive flair. Consider adding a cannabis leaf-shaped wreath or some green icing “snow”!

Dosage Tips:

Cannabutter: The potency of your gingerbread will depend largely on your cannabutter. Calculate the THC or CBD per serving before baking. If you’re unsure, err on the side of caution with dosing.

Royal Icing & Candy: These additional infusions allow you to control how potent you want the decorations to be. You can create non-infused icing for a lighter treat or ramp up the potency by incorporating cannabis tincture into the mix.

This Cannabis-Infused Gingerbread House is not only a delicious holiday treat but also a one-of-a-kind experience! Be sure to label it so guests know it’s infused, and enjoy responsibly!
