Delicious Homemade Weed Brownies Recipe

Making cannabis-infused brownies (weed brownies) is one of the most popular ways to enjoy edibles, combining a rich, chocolatey treat with the benefits of cannabis. The key to a great batch of edibles is properly preparing your cannabis butter (cannabutter) first. Follow this easy recipe to make a delicious tray of weed brownies that will satisfy your sweet tooth and provide a mellow high.

Ingredients:

For the Cannabutter:

  • ½ oz (14 grams) of decarboxylated cannabis
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) of unsalted butter
  • 1 cup of water

For the Brownies:

  • ½ cup (1 stick) of cannabis-infused butter (cannabutter)
  • ½ cup (1 stick) of regular unsalted butter (optional; replace with more cannabutter if you want stronger brownies)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)

Step 1: Decarboxylate Your Cannabis

Before making the cannabutter, it’s essential to decarboxylate your cannabis. This process activates the THC in the plant, ensuring it will have psychoactive effects when ingested.

  1. Preheat your oven to 240°F (115°C).
  2. Break your cannabis into small pieces (not too fine).
  3. Spread the cannabis evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Bake for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cannabis is light brown and dry.
  5. Remove from the oven and let it cool. Your cannabis is now decarboxylated and ready for infusion.

Step 2: Make the Cannabutter

  1. In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of unsalted butter. The water prevents the butter from burning.
  2. Heat over low-medium heat until the butter melts completely.
  3. Add the decarboxylated cannabis to the butter mixture.
  4. Simmer on low heat for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally. Do not let the mixture come to a boil.
  5. After the infusion is complete, strain the mixture through a cheesecloth into a heatproof container, removing all plant material.
  6. Let the cannabutter cool and solidify at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

Step 3: Prepare the Brownie Mix

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt ½ cup of cannabutter and ½ cup of regular butter over low heat.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, flour, and salt until well combined.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts if using.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.

Step 4: Bake the Brownies

  1. Bake the brownies in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean (a few moist crumbs are fine).
  2. Remove from the oven and let the brownies cool in the pan for about 30 minutes.
  3. Once cooled, cut into squares and enjoy!

Dosage Note:

Edible potency can vary based on the strength of your cannabis and how much cannabutter you use. Start with a small piece (especially if you’re new to edibles) and wait 1-2 hours to feel the effects before consuming more.

Tips:

  • If you want a stronger batch, you can replace the regular butter with more cannabutter.
  • For added flavor, try mixing in chocolate chips, peanut butter, or caramel swirls.
  • Store your brownies in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week or in the freezer for longer-term storage.

Enjoy these rich and delicious cannabis-infused brownies, but remember to eat responsibly and be mindful of the dosage!
